"starting point" begins right now. >>> our starting point today the black friday shopping binge. stores across the country have been open for hours now, offering doorbuster deals. some of the biggest retailers turned thanksgiving into gray thursday. they opened their doors last night. >> so holiday shoppers off and running. we have two live reports. cnn's george howell at a best buy store in atlanta. and stacey cohan at a mall in arlington, virginia. we want to go first to george howell. george, what's it look like where you are? >> well, alina, you know, good morning. so fewer people in the store right now than we saw earlier. we want to talk about some video that we talk this morning at this particular best buy. we saw some 600 people file into this store all trying to get, you know, these deals. you look around, you see the tvs. there are televisions that are marked off. you've got laptop computers that are marked off. laptops and tablets

pretty well in terms of -- from the western perspective in working with israel. he has a lot to prove to the outside world and his own people. >> reporter: now, the obama administration is calling for calm in egypt pushing the leadership there to work together to resolve their differences peacefully and through "democratic dialogue." joe. >> everybody i think is a little stunned about the timing of all of this, dan. is the white house saying anything about whether there's some type of linkage between the timing of the gaza agreement and this move by mohamed morsi? >> reporter: they're not at all. in fact, the white house has been really pushing a lot of the comment on this through the state department which of course as i mentioned a short time ago did release that statement. i think it's really too early to tell. they are watching carefully what the developments are there and will have more comment i suspect as they get more information. >> thanks so much for that, dan lothian at the white house. we're just over two days into the israeli/hamas cease-fire along the gaza border and alr

broker that peace between -- that cease-fire between hamas and israel. perhaps thinking that he is suddenly a leader on the world stage he decided to announce that all of the decisions he has made since assuming office in january cannot be challenged by the egyptian courts. as you can see a number of especially young people in egypt none too pleased about this. they have been protesting in cairo and alexandria and other places. morsi of course an islamist, a member of the muslim brotherhood, the ideological ally of hamas. it is yet to be seen what the response will be from the obama administration to these new powers that he has awarded himself. he has also ordered a new trial for his predecessor hosni mubarak. we will continue to watch the troubles developing inee lit up and the protest both in favor of and against that country's president. we'll keep an eye on it "happening now." also this fox news alert, holiday shoppers nationwide out in droves to take advantage of black friday tkaoerblgs man black friday deals, many of them cutting thanksgiving short to get in lines. they a
